Reclaimed Wood – Very Hot

Reclaimed Wood
Reclaimed wood products are popping up all over.

I’ve noticed a photo bomb in a lot of decorating pictures lately:  reclaimed wood.  It is popping up everywhere from Elle Decor to Pottery Barn.  Reclaimed lumber is:

“… wood taken for re-use. Most reclaimed lumber comes from timbers and decking rescued from old barns, factories and warehouses although some companies use wood from less traditional structures such as boxcars, coal mines and wine barrels.”

I’ve spotted it as panel molding on fireplaces, focal walls in kitchens, artwork, and furniture.  I believe it reflects both a green consciousness as well as a desire to move away from the cool clean lines we’ve been living in for a while and toward the textural comfort of the past.  Play a little I-SPY yourself and keep a look out for this nimble “waldo.”

Have a great summer!  Ann
