Nothing ever stays the same and that is nowhere is that more true than in home decorating trends! Some of the coming looks will sound familiar, and may even elicit a cry of “but I just got rid of that!”. But rest assured, nothing ever comes back exactly as they appeared last time; think bell bottoms from the 70’s reappearing as the 00’s “bootleg” jeans.

1. Warm Neutrals
Grays came onto the scene during the economic downturn of 2008 and have been a staple ever since. But beginning with Millenial pink a few years ago, earthy warmth has begun to sneak back into our home trends. Clay, terra cotta, copper, blush and soft yellows will warm up homes with their mineral palette. Don’t be surprised to see these colors even appearing in bathrooms soon.

2. Green
I’ve been talking about the reemergence of green for over a year, and it continues to come on strong. The demand for it is softer in North Texas, but the trend is definitely coming! All shades from pale green tea to deep shadowed forest floor green, it mixes with the warm neutrals in beautiful, natural ways.
Idea: Try out green in a small space like a powder room or laundry room. Or add some succulents!

3. More is More
When it comes to pattern, layering and mixing prints will become more popular, reflecting the mixing of people groups throughout the globe. Woven textiles are strong and get ready to say “hello again!” to animal prints! As wallpaper continues it’s resurgence, the color and pattern scales will become bolder as well.
Idea: Add a textured, earthy toned pillow to your sofa mix for fall.

4. Metallics
Iridescence, matte finishes, and richly textured metals will become more important in accessories, furniture and fashion reflecting the move back to natural elements.
Idea: Select new accessories like lamps or jars that bring in a matte or mineral look metal to add an earthiness to the space.
